Toss
TE, PST, PSG
This is a pin-and-pull: the TE and PST will down block backside while the PSG pulls and rolls outside the end man on the line of scrimmage up to an OLB.
C, BSG, BST
Reach step and work to get to the playside shoulder of your defender. Use outside zone rules for initial steps and climb to the second level as blocks develop.
X, Y
If spread: block nearest defender. If tight: playside down block; if tight backside: reach.
J, Z
If motion man: perform a wiggle motion to pin the end man on the line of scrimmage inside. Otherwise block the nearest defender. If in the backfield: be the lead blocker on the toss.
H
This is a toss play. Go lateral at first to work outside; catch the toss and follow the BSG up into the hole.
QB
Shotgun: toss laterally to the H. Under Center: reverse out with enough depth to clear the BSG and toss to the H.
Notes
Buck Sweep uses pull-and-roll action to create numbers outside and a running lane for the H; timing, angles, and proper leverage are critical.
