Buck Sweep
OL
Gape Scheme Rules: Linemen that are playside of the puller will block back. If their defender is not on the line of scrimmage they will double team with the lineman to their playside. The only exception is if the center needs to block back on a three technique. The puller will pull and any linemen backside of the puller will check their inside gap and widen their outside gap.
PSG
Pull and roll outside the end man on the line of scrimmage. You are looking back inside for #1 LB.
BSG
Pull and roll outside the end man and look to work to an OLB.
X Y J Z
If spread, block nearest defender. If tight, follow OL rules. If in backfield Aim for outside shoulder of the end man on the line of scrimmage and lead the H through the hole.
H
This will be a toss play. Go lateral at first to get started outside. Catch the toss and follow the BSG up into the hole.
QB
Shotgun: toss laterally to the H. Under center: reverse out (with depth to clear the BSG) and toss to the H.
Notes
Buck Sweep uses pull and roll action to get numbers outside and create a running lane for the H. Timing and angles are key.
